The third dispatch comes from the bottom of the tree. Below the branches and the harbour, where the roots go down into the old ground, RATR's own chain is built one block at a time.
Each block is a message cut into the root: who sent what to whom, sealed by work that anyone can check and no one can fake. Every coin begins here, before word of it is carried up the trunk.
The work is open to anyone with an ordinary processor. What follows says how to join it, in plain steps.
What you need #
- A RATR address to be paid to. Chapter V, Wallets, covers where to get one.
- A CPU miner that supports yespower, the algorithm RATR is mined with. The EnchantedForestDeFi EU pool's page recommends SRBMiner-Multi, and each pool's page names the miners it supports.
- A computer you can leave running. Any ordinary desktop or laptop processor mines RATR.
Where to get a miner
Download a miner only from its own official release page, as a pool's page links it. A miner from anywhere else can carry anything.
The pools #
A pool is a server your miner connects to. EnchantedForestDeFi runs three, and independent operators run more.
EnchantedForestDeFi pools #
- pool-eu.ratatoskr.enchantedforestdefi.com: Europe
- pool-us.ratatoskr.enchantedforestdefi.com: US Central
- pool-asia.ratatoskr.enchantedforestdefi.com: Asia
Independent pools #
Each pool's page lists its connection details: the stratum address and ports, the difficulty, the fee and the payout rules. Each pool sets its own, and they can change, so this chapter does not copy them. The sites page keeps the list of pools current.
Start mining #
- Choose a pool and open its page.
- Download a yespower CPU miner from the release page the pool links.
- From the pool's page, take the stratum address and port, and the algorithm setting it names for your miner.
- Set the login the pool's page asks for. The EnchantedForestDeFi pools take your RATR address as the username.
- Start the miner. Your address appears on the pool's page, with your shares, once the pool sees your work.
- Payouts arrive at your RATR address by the pool's payout rules, once the blocks they come from have matured.
Pool or solo #
Two doors, onto the same coin.
- Pool. Everyone's work is pooled. When the pool finds a block, its miner reward is shared across the pool by the pool's payout rule.
- Solo. Your work is your own. When your miner finds a block, that block's miner reward comes to you whole.
The EnchantedForestDeFi pools run both. The pool's page says how to choose solo, and the rules for each.
The block rules #
These are rules of the chain itself, read from the Ratatoskr source. Pools, miners and wallets all follow them.
- Algorithm: yespower. A proof-of-work algorithm built for ordinary CPUs.
- Target spacing: 60 seconds. The chain's proof-of-work target aims at one block a minute.
- Coinbase maturity: 100 blocks. A newly mined reward can be spent once 100 more blocks have been built on top of the block that paid it. Pool payouts follow this rule.
- Reward shares. Each block's subsidy is shared three ways. The treasury takes a fixed 10%. The masternode share is set by the network, within bounds of 20% to 40%. The miner takes the rest, between 50% and 70%.
Where to go next #
- Turning mined RATR into wRATR, or buying more: Chapter II, Get RATR.
- Contract addresses and how to read state: Chapter XI, Reference.
- Everything else: the contents.
Carried down 2026-10-03. Block rules read from the public Ratatoskr repository, branch main at 728da7d: src/chainparams.cpp (target spacing, treasury share), src/consensus/consensus.h (coinbase maturity) and src/validation.cpp (masternode and miner shares). Connection details, fees and payout rules are on each pool's own page.
