Chapter II · Get RATR

Three Doors

Mine it, buy it on the harbour, or carry it across a bridge. Each door opens onto the same coin.

The RATR mark: a squirrel climbing the tree with a scroll in its mouth

The second dispatch is a map of doors. Ratatoskr knows them all, because he passes every one of them on his run down the trunk and back up.

The first door is at the roots, on RATR's own chain, where the coin is mined by the work of ordinary processors. The second is at the shore: Nóatún, the harbour the old poems give to Njörðr, where coins arrive from other realms and change hands. The third is the trunk itself, the road the messenger runs, carrying word of each transfer from one chain to the next.

Each door is the same weight, and each opens onto the same coin. What follows says how each one opens, in plain steps, and which chapter carries the detail.

The doors at a glance #

  • Mine with a CPU at a pool. It arrives as RATR, on RATR's own chain.
  • Buy on the harbour with ALPH or the harbour's dollars, on Alephium. It arrives as wRATR.
  • Bridge between RATR and wRATR on Alephium, Base and BNB Chain. wRATR also trades on Base and BNB Chain.

RATR is the coin on its own chain. wRATR is the same coin carried to another chain, one for one. Chapter I sets out the difference. Masternode payouts are a fourth way RATR arrives, covered in Chapter IV, Masternodes.

Mine #

RATR is mined with yespower, a proof-of-work algorithm built for ordinary CPUs. Point a CPU miner at a pool, and the pool pays out in RATR on RATR's own chain. Each pool's page says how to connect and how it pays.

EnchantedForestDeFi runs pools in the EU, US Central and Asia. Independent pools mine RATR too: AriaPool, rplant and PooLab. Every one of them is listed, with its link, on the sites page.

Chapter III, Mining, carries the setup.

Buy on the harbour #

On Nóatún, the harbour on Alephium, swap ALPH for wRATR, or swap either of the harbour's dollars: USDC.eth or USDT.bsc. Each of the three pairs with wRATR in a pool of its own. The Swap tab lists every pool.

An Alephium wallet holding the coin you swap opens this door. Every Alephium transaction also pays a little ALPH for gas.

Bridge #

The Ratatoskr Bridge moves RATR one for one between its own chain and another. There is one bridge for each chain wRATR lives on: Alephium, Base and BNB Chain. Each runs both ways. Wrap sends RATR in and mints wRATR on the other chain. Unwrap burns wRATR and releases RATR. The bridges are custodial: the RATR sent in is held, and wRATR is minted against it.

RATR to wRATR #

  1. Open the bridge for the chain you are sending to, and choose Wrap.
  2. Enter your receiving address on that chain and the amount of RATR.
  3. The page builds the commands. Run them in the console of the Ratatoskr QT wallet. The transaction carries your receiving address on chain.
  4. Paste the transaction id into the page to track it. Once the transaction has the confirmations the page names, the bridge mints wRATR to your address.

The RATR web wallet and the Draupnir masternode wallet also bridge, from inside the wallet. Chapter V, Wallets, covers them.

wRATR to RATR #

  1. Open the bridge for the chain your wRATR is on, and choose Unwrap.
  2. Connect a wallet on that chain: an Alephium wallet for Alephium, any EVM wallet for Base or BNB Chain.
  3. Enter the amount and your RATR address to receive it.
  4. Sign. The wRATR is burned and RATR is released to that address.

The return address

An unwrap cannot be undone. Read the RATR address back before you sign.

Limits and fees #

Each bridge has a minimum, a most per transaction, and a daily window for minting and another for burning. Each bridge sets its own, and they can change, so this chapter does not quote them. The bridge page shows the ones in force before you send anything: how much can still cross today, and when the window resets.

The page also states the bridge's fee and the gas you pay on each chain, and how many confirmations a wrap waits for.

wRATR on Base and BNB Chain #

wRATR on Base and on BNB Chain is the same coin, at the same contract address on both chains, and it trades on each. Before buying, check the token's address against the official contracts list on the sites page.

Every bridge runs between RATR and one chain, so wRATR moves from one chain to another through RATR: unwrap it to RATR on the first bridge, then wrap that RATR onto the next.

Chapter VI, Bridges, carries the full detail.

Where to go next #

Carried down 2026-10-03. This chapter states rules, not snapshots: limits, fees and confirmation counts are on each bridge's own page, and pools on the harbour's Swap tab.
